Returning to work: Empowering your next chapter at Stryker in India

Updated: Oct 11

At Stryker, one of our core values is people. We understand that everyone's journey is unique, and we are committed to providing equal opportunities for those who have taken time off. That's why we are proud to introduce our #NewBeginning program, Stryker in India's "Return to Work" program.

This program is designed to empower anyone who has taken a career break due to life events, such as caring for a child or loved one, and supporting them as they confidently transition back into the workforce.

How #NewBeginning program supports returning to work:

1. Fostering a people-first culture

Our return-to-work program was born out of our relentless pursuit to attract, engage and develop talent in India, while fostering an inclusive culture. We understand that returning to the corporate world can be challenging after a career break. With this program, we aim to create a holistic platform embedded in our "people first" culture, helping  individuals feel supported throughout their journey.

2. Promoting inclusive hiring practices

This program places a strong emphasis on equity and reducing biases in the hiring process. We firmly believe in providing opportunities based on skills and caliber, without prejudices. By addressing equity and common biases, we create an environment where every individual's potential has the opportunity to flourish.

"We are intentional about developing women in R&D leadership roles. One such initiative are employee resource groups such as Stryker’s Women Network (SWN) and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE). These groups create a network of leaders which empower women to develop strategies and skills to become even more effective in their role. We have rigorous talent review programmes as a part of our talent offence strategy to identify and develop emerging women leaders.” - Poonam R. | HR Director | India

3. Commitment to career support

We recognize that successful reintegration into the corporate world requires ongoing support and development. With #NewBeginning, selected candidates receive comprehensive assistance through coaching, mentoring and training interventions. We are dedicated to empowering individuals, teams and managers, providing the necessary resources for their professional growth. Through personalized guidance, we strive to ensure a smooth transition and the development of essential skills for long-term success.

"As an employee, you can expect a nurturing environment that values your individual journey and aspirations. The organization believes in the power of mentorship and coaching and employees have access to experienced mentors who provide guidance and insights. Stryker also understands the importance of healthy work life balance. They promote flexibility allowing you to manage your professional and personal responsibilities effectively.” - Vandana S. | Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs | India

4. Empowering environment

We take pride in fostering a supportive, welcoming and inclusive work environment. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that everyone brings to the table. Preeti, a Sr. Microbiologist, exemplifies the supportive atmosphere at Stryker. She shares, "After taking a break of 2 years, beginning the second inning of my career with Stryker was truly empowering. I was offered what I deserved for my skills and caliber, without any biases. I couldn't have asked for a more supportive, welcoming, and inclusive environment."

#NewBeginning is more than just a program; it is a transformative opportunity for individuals seeking to reignite their professional journey. As an employer, we strive to provide equal opportunities for all individuals. By driving awareness, educating, and empowering employees, we encourage and enable candidates to confidently return to fulfilling careers.
